I began the morning by thinning out my art supplies. One of my baskets of stuff – that is the best word for it – or maybe supplies would be better – had gotten so heavy I found myself reluctant to pull it off the shelf. This was yet another small preventative to me doing my art.
I need to have my supplies easy to retrieve, otherwise it is just too hard to think about getting everything out to paint. And then cleaning up and hefting everything back.
I pulled out a pad of 6 x 8 mixed media paper to play with. I am still deciding what I mostly want to paint on. Paper is good. Very good. Simply because it doesn’t take up much room and is super easy to store. But I find I do like canvas better. Plus the canvas or board is stronger and can take more layers without buckling.
I started out by just layering in some collage elements, some glitter, paint and stencils. I enjoyed painting this piece. She still isn’t done. But I think the next step is to scan her into Photoshop and play. Maybe add some words. Definitely words, but I don’t know which ones yet.
